Puppies First 8 Weeks
We believe in raising great family members. We base our program on health, temperament and looks in that order. All of our puppies are extensively socialized with dogs and especially humans. Our children spend lots of time with them so that they are used to both kids and adults. We use ENS (Early Neurologic Stimulation, Day 3-16 ) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction, Day 3-16) to help develop more resilient and confident puppies. All the puppies are dewormed at 2 week intervals starting at 2 weeks of age. They also are vet checked, appropriately vaccinated and microchipped. We begin potty training with pee pads and litter boxes at 3 weeks of age. They are introduced to kennels at week 7. They are temperament tested on week 7 as well, a tool prospective pet parents can use to select the best match for their family. We also have a private Facebook page for each litter where our prospective puppy parents will receive weekly individual photos, videos and important puppy information. It is a great place to meet other prospective parents, ask questions, make comments and share information.
Pre-Breeding Health Program
All of our parents have DNA testing to make sure they do not carry any of the diseases that can be tested for. Our parents are all selected to have great personalities and to be family companions.
Socialization and Basic Puppy Care
Socialization is vital with puppies. They need to get used to other dogs and people (adult and children). We begin handling them on a regular basis starting at 3 days of age. Our children take and cuddle with them when they are small to get used to being held by humans. We have several dogs of various sizes (Great Dane down to Pomeranian) that the pups interact with.
ENS and ESI
ENS (early neurologic stimulation) begins at 3 days of age. The pups are handled, cuddled and touched so that they get used to humans. ESI (early scent introduction) also starts at day 3. The puppies are exposed to a wide variety of scents and their response recorded. It has been shown that the early introduction to scents makes them better at scent work. Of course by being handled they also are being socialized and become more resilient.
Puppy Health Program
All of our puppies are raised in a way to help them be strong and healthy. This starts with a high quality food. Since puppies can get intestinal parasites in the uterus or from the milk it is important to deworm them regularly (we do 2, 4, 6, and 8 week dewormings). They undergo a thorough physical examination to make sure they do not have heart or other problems. We vaccinate them for the most common infectious diseases at around 8 weeks of age. Temperament Testing
A program has been developed that allows for testing of various personality characteristics of the pups. It is a one time snap shot, so things can change as they mature. Nonetheless we have seen quite a few puppies that maintain their personality traits over time. Testing includes assessing resiliency in the face of new experiences, new sounds, and activities. The testing is done at 7 weeks of age.

This is obviously a great day for everyone. Pups get a bath, nail trim and lots of hugs. The pups go home with a goody bag, 30 days free health insurance, and a blanket with the scents of their siblings.
